Combat legionella with article 42 of the German Emissions Protection Act (BImSchV)

Article 42 of the German Emissions Protection Act (BImSchV) came into effect in August 2017. The ordinance applies to all open evaporation cooling systems, cooling towers and wet scrubbers. In other words, it applies wherever water is evaporated for cooling purposes, resulting in the formation of aerosols that come into contact with the outside air and can therefore be inhaled.

Not only does the ordinance include requirements relating to the construction and condition of these systems, it also and more importantly includes detailed guidelines for monitoring the operation of the approx. 50,000 systems already in existence. In addition, it provides for regular monitoring of physical and chemical parameters, among others, and recommends online monitoring of critical water parameters, such as temperature, conductivity and pH.

The first continuously operating chlorine dioxide generator to use the chlorite peroxodisulfate method, is being deployed in partnership with Brenntag and a.p.f. Aqua System AG.

The patented production method guarantees complete conversion of the starting chemicals used. This is done completely without the use of the usual educts, such as hydrochloric acid and free chlorine, which present significant challenges in terms of workplace safety and storage. The result is a stable, ultrapure chlorine dioxide solution, which can be used immediately but is also suitable for storage. This means that the dosage of chlorine dioxide can be coordinated perfectly with actual on-site requirements.

The complete turnkey package: Clorious2 Generator + Analysis Panel

When combined with the chlorine dioxide panel from Endress+Hauser, it is also possible to accommodate all of the sensors that may be required for water treatment. A CCS50D chlorine dioxide electrode can be installed in addition to the ORP and pH electrode.
