HAW568 Surge protective device for installation in the field device
Field of application
The HAW568 surge protective device is used to protect electronic components in field devices from being destroyed. It ensures that overvoltage surges which occur in signal cables (e.g. 4 to 20 mA), in communication lines of Field buses and in power lines are safely limited or passed into the ground. The functionality of the electronic component to be protected is not affected as, using the impedance-free connection of the protection unit, interference voltage drops cannot be introduced.
Surge protective devices are used to weaken residual currents from upstream lightning protection steps and to limit system-induced or system-generated overvoltage surges
HAW568 units are primarily used in process automation and measuring and communication technology within the water & wastewater, chemical, oil & gas as well as power & energy industry
Compact device for the protection of signal/communication cables or for the simultaneous protection of signal, communication and power supply cables
Benefits
Increased plant availability in the field of process automation, as the electronic components are protected
Easy and space-saving direct mounting for installation in field devices
Optional available with SIL3
Parallel connection reduces resistance in the loop (screw-in version)
No additional cable entry required for lead-through version
Surge arresters are applied to protect electronic components of a plant against overvoltage! Due to this, investment intensive measuring instruments are protected and the plant availability is increased.
Application
Surge protection for power supply or signal / communication cables
